I am a self-taught French-Algerian artist, born and raised in France.
After studying in Paris in my twenties, I moved to New York in the mid-1990s, where I lived for many years.
There, I frequently attended “A Gathering of the Tribes”, a performance space and informal salon for cultural exchange among poets, visual artists, musicians, and performers. This had a profound impact on me. Without formal art training, I began to explore the many facets of my heritage, blending elements of Arabic calligraphy with abstract painting. In my early works, I navigated the complex realities of both my identities, Algerian and French. I started to explore both of my identities algerian and french.
My journey continued with a focus on textiles, where I began crafting unique women’s clothing by combining diverse fabrics and colors. These one-of-a-kind pieces, along with jewelry, embodied an organic fusion of materials. I also ventured into designing dance costumes, further expanding my artistic expression.
Today, my drawings on unstretched fabric and stretched canvas reflect my deep intuition and serve as projections of other dimensions and realities within this universe.
I currently live and work in Berlin.
